미국 보스톤 지역을 중심으로 활발히 활동하며 따뜻하고 참신한 감성으로 듣는 이의 마음을 사로잡는 재즈밴드 Three Quartet 이 2012년 그들의 첫 번째 정규앨범을 출시했다. 세 사람 모두 버클리 음악대학을 거쳐 NEC음대 대학원에 진학, 각자 보스톤 주변의 재즈 클럽과 갤러리 등지에서 활발히 활동하던 중 서로의 음악적 개성과 색깔을 한곳에 모아 그룹을 결성했다. 쓰리퀄텟(Three Quartet)은 송준영(드럼), 김은영(Piano), 김진수(Guitar), 세 명을 중심으로 베이시스트 Aaron Darrell 이 피처링 해 4중주를 이룬다.

‘자연스러움, 그 안의 자유와 즉흥’

멤버들이 이번 앨범을 통해 표현하고자 한 것은 숨 쉬는 것과 같은 자연스러움이다. 그러다 보니 복잡하고 조금은 난해한 아이디어들로 색칠된 현대 재즈음악들에 비해 쓰리퀄텟(Three Quartet)의 음악은 보다 심플하고 정적이다.

Based in Boston, Three Quartet is a jazz group known for its warm and fresh musical sensibility. Formed by three musicians who studied at Berklee College of Music and New England Conservatory, the band brings together distinct musical voices shaped on Boston’s jazz scene. The group features Song Junyoung (drums), Kim Eunyoung (piano), and Jin Soo Kim (guitar), joined by bassist Aaron Darrell.

Their 2012 debut album explores “naturalness—freedom and spontaneity within,” favoring simplicity and space over complexity. Blending original compositions with selected standards, the record highlights organic interplay, subtle dynamics, and a shared sensitivity to form and improvisation.
